Posted: June 5th, 2024
Dr. Megan Cahill has been named the University of Wisconsin MBA Consortium 2024 Outstanding Graduate by the faculty of the UW MBA Consortium program. Cahill, a Fall 2023 graduate, was selected from a pool of students who graduated between Summer 2023 and Spring 2024.
"I am extremely honored to receive this prestigious award and feel so grateful to have had the incredible opportunity to build my knowledge and skills in business at the University of Wisconsin MBA Consortium,” said Cahill. “The faculty and staff have been beyond inspiring and helped launch me into the next stages of my career.”
Cahill currently serves as the Division Chief of Medicine at the Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township, Michigan. She began her time in the MBA program as an emergency medicine physician but earned a promotion to her current role about one year into the program. She now oversees 750 physicians and advanced practice providers across 20 medical specialties. Additionally, in 2021, Cahill started a business to provide contract services to the hospital, primarily in the areas of sepsis and quality initiatives.
Instructors in the program praised Cahill’s ability to provide contributions that made the learning environment richer for everyone around her. Chad Getchell and Nancy Hanson-Rasmussen were her instructors in MBA 701: Leading & Communicating in Dynamic & Diverse Organizations. Getchell noted that “on more than one assignment she was the only person to bring up some key points or thoughts that the rest of the group did not. She was a role model for her work ethic, professionalism, and thought leadership.” Hanson-Rasmussen said her participation in the course was “integral to the creation of a positive and warm learning culture for everyone.”
Balancing coursework in the UW MBA Consortium’s asynchronous learning model while also working full-time and raising five young children, including triplets, Cahill felt the flexibility was key to her success. She also acknowledged that her family played a critical role. “I owe a great deal of thanks and acknowledgments to my husband, Ryan, my parents and family, and our five wonderful children. They all continue to motivate me to do bigger and better things!"
Prior to her time with the UW MBA Consortium, Cahill earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Michigan in 2008, followed by a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Michigan State University in 2012.
