2020 UW MBA Consortium Faculty Meeting
Posted: March 4th, 2020
Nearly 40 faculty and administrative staff from across all the Consortium partner campuses gathered for the 4th Annual UW MBA Consortium Faculty Meeting, January 16-17, 2020, at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells. Each year, attendees come together to participate in strategic planning activities as well as professional development. During this year's meeting, faculty completed tasks in a course to learn best practices for teaching their online courses in Canvas. Three instructors also gave presentations offering tips for increasing engagement in online classes. Faculty also reviewed and gave feedback on plans for the MBA program updated curriculum, which launches this fall. Their feedback is being used to help define and refine new coursework.

Honoring Dr. Erffmeyer
UW MBA Consortium Director Dr. Robert Erffmeyer retired on February 24 after 25 years of service to the program. The group presented him with some gifts and also spent some time reminiscing with him after the meeting concluded.
Completing some Canvas activities
The second day kicked off with faculty learning advanced Canvas tips and tricks, including deep dives into the Calendar and Grades. Our instructional designers helped work through the Canvas activities in small groups and then discussed the activities as a large group, answering questions along the way.
Working to complete an assignment
Being a fully online program with faculty from multiple campuses, interaction with one another at the annual faculty meeting is one of the things people like most about the event. Here, Dr. Nancy Hanson-Rasmussen and Dr. Melissa Bublitz are helping each other with a Canvas assignment.
Learning more about tools to increase engagement
To close the meeting, three instructors spoke on different topics to help increase engagement in their online classes. Here, Mary Diederich is pictured giving an overview of Collaborate Ultra and how she uses the tool to host office hours in her classes.
