Health Care Finance and Economics

MBA 782  •  2 Credits  •  7 Weeks  •  Typically Offered: Summer

Health Economics focuses on several issues related to health and the health care sector, including topics such as government intervention in health and health care, the impetus, design, and organization of health insurance markets, and the related impacts of both on health care reform, health outcomes, and decision making in the health arena. Because the U.S. does not have unlimited resources to apply to population health and the health sector, many traditional tools of economics can be utilized to better understand the many tradeoffs and policy implications present in this environment.  This course is intended for anyone who wishes to become better informed about the economics of health insurance and health care, and the public policy issues concerning health, medical care, and health care reform.
